Save Your Coins: Best Drugstore Products

There are so many fantastic products from the drugstore, how could you possibly narrow it down?  Well, I can’t.  I thought it would be easier, but so much of my makeup stash is from the drugstore.  So instead, I narrowed this list of products down to items that I feel rival their high end counterparts.  l'oreal infallible eyeshadow amber rushL’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow, $7.99 (here shown in “Amber Rush”).   After buying so many foiled-type of eyeshadows that are more expensive, I have a lot of appreciation for this product.  I’m actually hoping to find more in the next week or two.  I don’t notice any fall out at all when I use these wet.  They also don’t crease so they’re great all over the lid.  It’s great to know that we don’t have to pay more intense pigment and beautiful shades.

wet n wild megalast lipstickWet n Wild MegaLast Lipstick, $1.99.  You would never guess that these are $2 lipsticks, except for maybe the packaging.  I love that they made tons of dupes for popular lip colors and I love how affordable they are.  You can find a full review here!

milani baked blush luminoso rose d'oro deliziosoMilani Baked Blush, $5.99.  If I had to choose one brand of blush to wear for the rest of my life, these would be it.  Luminoso is probably my favorite blush.  These are pigmented, luminous, and affordable.  The shades are also gorgeous.  I’m not crazy about Dolce Pink (I just find it to be too glittery and not exactly illuminating) but I love all of the other shades.  I wear these so much more often than the MAC baked blushes I own, which are pretty pricey!

IMG_3042Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer, $8.99.  I’ve heard a lot of different opinions about this one, but I love it.  The biggest complaint is about creasing, which I’ve never really encountered.  I use a tiny bit to slightly highlight my under eye area and it works like a dream.  The texture is light and moussey and it does a nice job of brightening wherever you wish to brighten.

maybelline color sensational truffle tease espresso exposed lust for blushMaybelline Color Sensational Lipstick, $7.49.  The color options from this line are incredible.  There are shades from everyone, from very light skin to very dark. These are worth every single cent.  Read my full review here.

revlon photoready skinlights bare lightRevlon PhotoReady Skinlights, $13.99 (show here in “bare light”).  I held off on buying this for a while because I always thought it was kind of pricey.  But compared to Charlotte Tilbury’s illuminating primer, this is a steal.  Not only is it more affordable, but I like it a whole lot better.  It’s great as a primer, mixed into foundation, or for a sublte highlight after foundation.  You can read more here.

IMG_3074Nyx Micro Brow Pencil, $9.99. I’m not even sure I’ll buy another ABH Brow Wiz after discovering this.  There are a lot of shade options, the spooley at the end is great, and it has the same precise tip as the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz.  Read more here!

ardell wispies demi wispiesArdell Wispies and Demi Wispies, $3.99.  I’ve spent all kind of money on lashes in my relatively short life.  I’m happily coming to the realization that you just don’t need to spend a lot of money on them.  I’ve tried super expensive mink lashes that I hated, and then there are drugstore lashes that I buy over and over again.  The Ardell Wispies and Demi Wispies are by far my favorite.  I wear them by themselves sometimes, but they look amazing worn together.  The lash band is really thin, which makes them really discreet.  This is great for people who are just starting to wear lashes.  The Wispie style makes eyes look so big, too.  It’s a universally flattering shape, so I always recommend these to beginners.  Another win for the drugstore!

Share this with someone who’s just starting to use makeup, someone whose rent is due,  or someone who just doesn’t like paying more than they have to for similar products!  Thank for reading!

P.S. Do you hate the featured image today?  You’re not alone.  My brother told me my teeth look sharp, my sister said my eyes are too open, and my mom just laughed when she saw it.  Sorry if you had to see it shared on your Facebook feeds.

  1. This is by far my favorite kind of post….affordable and good quality. I totally agree on NYX, Ardell, and Milani. I haven’t been able to get Revlon Skinlights or Maybelline concealer. Thanks!
